For me, this book was not so interesting, although I think it could have been. The author spent quite a bit of time discussing how children remember and perceive their world. Her childhood, seemed to plod along... at her Egyptian grandparents house, neglected by her too-worldly mother, and educated by a narrow-minded, relatively uneducated nanny. By the time she got to her French grandmother's home, I gave up reading...
