At over 400 pages this is certainly not a quick read, but it is a fascinating one. The author explores our common (mis)conceptions about how life used to be in some mythical golden age (typically the 1950s), using statistics and data to show where we have changed, and even more interesting, where we have not, looking at various time periods in the past 200 years. Recommended.
