Add a CommentKamala Harris writes of growing up with her determined mother and younger sister in Oakland and her increasingly high profile jobs leading to the US Senate. She also profiles and articulates the issues central to her run for the presidency.
Her passion for issues that at their core build stronger families seems a guiding principle she highlights again and again, showing connections that I’d sometimes not considered. Well done.
An honest and insightful firsthand account of how Democrat Kamala Harris evolved into Joe Biden's running mate for the 2020 Presidential election. American politics are a test of ethics, morales and principles that expose a person's true ambition, character and resiliency.

Finally some hope for the future! And the end of the long and humiliating trumpian nightmare for the USA.
Before reading this book, I knew very little about Kamala Harris. I had seen her a couple of times on TV since she was elected as a U.S. senator from California. My daughter, who lived in California for a number of years while Ms. Harris held several governmental positions there, spoke highly of her. She has an amazing life story and she presents a lot of well thought-out progressive viewpoints on a variety of subjects. The book is refreshing in that almost everything she writes about is stated in a very positive and upbeat manner, and she spends very little time criticizing the positions of other politicians. Having now read her book, I am convinced that she is a very viable candidate to be the next president.
I understand that this was probably a rush job. She may have been dictating it to someone. Parts are really well written - others not so much.
She makes a better case for some of her positions in the book than what i have heard on TV.
No comments about dating Willie Brown, college drug use experimentation, why she chose the law school that she did. Again, this was a hurry up and get to print.
A lot will depend if she is successful in getting the nomination. If she does - others will develop better bios.
I found this book to be an interesting read. Ms. Harris has a background similar to President Obama's: parents of different races, living in a modest home, and experiencing life in a foreign country. Ms. Harris attended high school in Canada. She is an articulate person who shares intimate aspects of her life with the reader. After reading this book I am convinced that Kamala Harris is a serious candidate for president of the United States.
Kamalla Harris is a fascinating woman, just like her immigrant parents from Jamaica and India. Her parents were civil rights advocates and she went to demonstrations with them when she was young and these ideals were instilled in her at a young age. Her mother was a breast cancer researcher and dedicated her life to beating that disease.
Kamalla went to law school and decided to work as a prosecutor so she could effect change and bring justice to people on a local level. She soon started to work with victims of sexual violence and moved up the ladder in the Oakland/San Fransisco area making positive changes in the justice departments. This is only in the first few chapters, I will leave the rest to you to read.
Her progressive ideas come from wanting to help people and she has worked very hard to effect change. Highly recommend even if she wasn't a 2020 Presidential candidate.
