Who was the man in the blue "zoot" suit who appeared to Money on the train then glimpsed again at the end of the novel ? An apparition who represents what ? Would love an enlightened answer for me.

"The rules and accommodations normal families made were a fascination that did not rise to the level of envy." I loved this thought from Frank, early in the book. "Sun-smacked or not, she wanted to be the one who rescued her own self."…

I wouldn't have thought that I'd ever find Toni Morrison derivative, but this certainly was. This was Ellison's Invisible Man lite, down to some specific plot points. A lot more readable than Invisible Man, but a shadow of it nevertheless.…

The ending portrays a vision of heaven on earth found amid degrading racism, poverty, and war.

With a literary career that spanned into its fifth decade with the publication of Home, Morrison continued to produce work as powerful and unforgettable as any fiction in this day and age. Home may be a slender novel, but it lacks none of…

I love Toni Morrison's writing. The Bluest Eye is my favorite one so far but this one is very good too.

Home lacks the riveting storyline typical of early Morrison, but does not neglect the beautifully selected language that is indicative of any Morrison story.

Frank Money, an African-American a Korean War vet, discovers that he is still treated as a subhuman by most whites on his return to the American South. This is the first book I have ever read about an African-American Korean vet who risked…

I read this in almost one session. Another great novel form Toni Morrison about a black veteran arriving home from the Korean war. His trials, his nightmares and his journey back to a home town he never wanted to return to. That is all I …

A restrained novella telling a story of redemption. It is unusual for Morrison in its male protagonist, but usual in containing the themes which preoccupy her. This is a remarkably hopeful story given the personal circumstances of…

Home is a great book. Run to the library and get the audiobook version of "Home" and you will hear Toni Morrison read her book. It is a wonderful gift to hear her tell the story. Even though it's a completely different genre, and…

I'm an avid Toni Morrison fan and Home does not disappoint. Taking place in racist America in the mid to late 20th century, Ms. Morrison takes us on a glorified ride. The two antagonists learn lessons of pride, integrity, and forgiveness.…

Different than what I've come to expect from Toni Morrison, but excellent. Understated but deep.

It's a good story and one that needed to be told (like all of Morrison's books), but this one felt more rushed and less cared about than her earlier works, as though she was skipping over bits and pieces, not for the sake of concision, …

Not my favorite of Morrison's novels, but that's still high praise.

Excellent and engaging writing. I had trouble with the last couple of Morrison books so it was a treat to connect with her material again. As always, an important story is told from an African American perspective.

Truly beautiful and despite the subject matter, one of Morrison's most optimistic and somehow, resolved, novels.
